About This Piece

“American Indian Orpheus and the Animals” is a massive stone relief, weighing two and a half tons. The artist, Gladys Caldwell, was a very young Denver artist at the time of completion. Her workmanship presents the idea of an American Indian Orpheus, depicting the buffalo, bear and other animals common during the earlier days of Native Americans.
