About This Piece

From the artist’s proposal,For the piece, the artist’s two goals and challenges were to convey the wonder she always feels at Red Rocks – a very sacred place. And, to balance the structural geometry and geological forms in tension with the mysterious scale and depth of the forested life in which the rocks are embedded.

Joellyn Duesberry envisioned a glorious red and green, engaging the peripheral vision and the love of the living land, where ancient song must have echoed for many centuries before Denver dedicated Red Rocks to the celebration of music.
